Don’t get caught up in the culture of the status quo. It’s easy to settle into your position and begin pursuing the issues that those before you have said are urgent.
Don’t fall for goal displacement, a situation in which you lose sight of the big picture and the vision by becoming too focused on the less important or everyday.
Don’t feel puffed up. You might become a big fish in a little pond and develop a deep, illusory sense of self-importance (perhaps out of the need to feel important that many experience).
