Convinced yet not persuaded

So, you’ve laid out all the evidence. You’ve demonstrated the simple facts of the matter. The truth is abundantly clear. Yet, they still refuse to change. Why?

We are aware that iPhones are manufactured in facilities with suicide nets. We know that we should exercise. We fully comprehend that we should not be drinking soda. But, we don’t act.

This is because we are convinced, not persuaded.

Persuasion is having something resonate with us at a level so deep it compels us to shift behavior.

I don’t have persuasion figured out yet. My guess is that it happens most when the facts are mixed into a good story, which is given further oomph when it appeals to our self-interestedness.
